In November we had the unique chance to speak with THE investment and commodity legend Eric Sprott. This is the result:

Mr Sprott, you are named a legend. So, what do I have to do to become a legend?

The most important thing is being right and being early. Like doing a call early that turns out to be correct. If you have a look in my book (Sprott Asset Management – Mania. Manipulation. Meltdown. Markets at a Glance – 1999-2011), which is a history of ten years of things that we have written, you can see that it is a pretty accurate chronology of seeing things exactly the way they going to play out.

We started the bear market in 2000 and it naturally should have defined the laws, but due to central bank and government interference it hasn’t really played out, yet. Coming up with this program and that program that kept it from doing what it naturally should do. So, we talked about this first article about excessive speculation. That was exactly the date when the NASDAQ went from 5.000 to about 1.250 and lost about 75%. And then I wrote my first article about gold in October 2001, peak oil in April 2004, the housing bubble in January 2006, which theoretically nobody could see happening – it was fairly obvious what was happening.
