ALROSA Company Limited is one of the world’s leading companies in the field of diamond exploration, mining and sales of rough diamonds, and diamond manufacture. ALROSA accounts for 97% of all Russia’s diamond production. Its share in the global rough diamond production is 25%. Russia's giant diamond producer Alrosa has announced plans to prospect for diamonds in the southern areas of the Democratic Republic of Congo. A decision in this matter was reached during a meeting between Congo President Joseph Kabila and Alrosa CEO Sergei Vybornov. Alrosa has two joint diamond ventures in nearby Angola. Alrosa holds a 32.8% stake in Catoca Ltd, and in the LUO-Kamachia-Kamajiku diamond mining company, in which it controls 45%.
